The best social media MCP servers in 2026

Quick answer

The best social media MCP servers in 2026 are Buffer, PostEverywhere and Postiz. Buffer suits most people: its hosted server signs in with OAuth and works on the free plan. PostEverywhere suits small teams who want the AI to request approval before a post goes out. Postiz suits developers who want an open-source scheduler they can host themselves, with an MCP server that covers 30+ networks.
A social media MCP server lets an AI app such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor work inside a scheduler: list your accounts, write drafts, schedule posts and read analytics. Every tool below runs an official MCP server of its own, described in its own docs. We compared how you sign in, whether a person can approve a post before it goes out, which networks it reaches and what it costs.

1. Buffer

What it is

A hosted social media scheduler with an official MCP server at mcp.buffer.com. The AI can create, edit and delete posts, work with the queue, drafts and ideas, and read analytics.

Best for

Solo creators and small teams who already use, or want, a simple queue and want their AI app to fill it.

What stands out

  • Included on every plan, the free plan too.
  • A post can be saved as a draft, added to the queue, shared now or sent as a reminder notification instead of publishing.
  • Listed as a connector in Claude, with documented setups for ChatGPT, Claude Code and Codex.

Limits

  • A hard approval gate: the AI can share a post at once, so review relies on drafts and your AI app asking first.
  • Many channels on a small budget: the price rises with each channel.
  • Approvals between teammates on Essentials: content approval is on Team only.

Networks

Through the MCP server: Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, Google Business, Mastodon, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky, Substack and Start Page.

Price from

Free plan for up to 3 channels. Essentials is $6 per channel a month billed monthly; Team is $12 per channel a month billed monthly. 14-day free trial of the paid plans.

A hosted scheduler with AI Studio and a Brand Kit, a REST API, webhooks, a CLI and an official MCP server with 44 tools on every plan.

Best for

Small teams that let an AI draft posts but want a teammate to approve them.

What stands out

  • It can write captions in your Brand Kit voice and keep them within each network's limit.
  • Listed in the official MCP Registry and in Claude's connector directory.

Limits

  • A free plan: there is a 7-day trial, and it needs a card.
  • Several accounts on the cheapest plan: Lite has 2 accounts and 1 user.
  • Reddit or Mastodon: neither is listed.

Networks

Instagram, Facebook, X (threads too), LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky, Telegram, Discord, YouTube, Pinterest, WordPress and Google Business Profile.

Price from

Lite is $9 a month billed monthly, flat, with 2 accounts and 1 user. Starter is $19 with 5 accounts and 2 members; extra members are $5 a month each. No free plan; 7-day trial with a card.

Limits

  • A blocking approval step: the AI can publish directly, and there is no approved flag that stops a post.
  • Teams on the entry plan: Standard includes no team members.
  • A free hosted plan: the cloud has a 7-day trial; only self-hosting is free.

Networks

30+, including X, LinkedIn profiles and pages, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, Reddit, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, Discord, Google Business Profile and several blog platforms.

5. Refract

Refract is our product.

What it is

A social media scheduler where you write one note and an AI agent for each network writes a version that fits it. You approve each version and Refract schedules it. Per-network voice rules learn from your edits, and Studio makes images and video in each network's shape.

Best for

Teams and agencies who connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to their workspaces and want every AI post approved by a person, on the networks Refract supports today.

What is an MCP server?

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard, created by Anthropic, that lets AI apps connect to tools and data. An MCP server is the piece a service runs so an AI app can use it: a social media MCP server gives Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor tools such as "list my accounts", "create a draft" or "schedule this post".

Most servers in this guide are remote: the vendor hosts them, and you add one URL to your AI app and sign in, usually with OAuth, so the app never sees your password. A local server runs on your own computer instead. Either way, the AI can only do what the server's tools allow and what you granted when you connected it.

How to connect one to Claude or ChatGPT

Some tools are listed in Claude's connector directory or in ChatGPT, so you can add them by name. For any other server, you need its URL from the vendor's docs. These steps are from Anthropic's and OpenAI's help pages, checked on November 3, 2026.

Claude (Pro and Max)

  1. Open Customize > Connectors.
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Enter a name and the server's URL, then click Continue.
  4. Review the sign-in settings Claude detected, then click Add, and sign in to the tool when asked.
  5. In a chat, turn the connector on from the + button, under Connectors.

On the Free plan you can add one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an owner first adds the connector under Organization settings > Connectors, then each member clicks Connect in Customize > Connectors.

Claude Code

Run claude mcp add --transport http <name> <url>, then use /mcp inside Claude Code to check the server and sign in.

ChatGPT

OpenAI says custom MCP servers with full MCP support, including write actions, are available on ChatGPT Business and Enterprise/Edu, on the web only. On Pro, custom servers get read and fetch permissions only, which isn't enough to schedule posts. On Business, only admins and owners can add one.

  1. Go to Plugins, select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. Enter a name and the server's HTTPS URL under Connection.
  3. Set up sign-in, read the risk warning and tick I understand and want to continue.
  4. Select Create as a plugin, install it, then type @ in a new chat and pick it.

ChatGPT may ask you to confirm write actions, depending on the app's permissions. Claude also asks before it uses a tool unless you choose Allow always, which is one more reason to pick a server that keeps posts as drafts or sends them for approval.

How we chose.

We started from every social media tool we could find that runs an official MCP server, described on its own site or in its own docs, and checked each one's pricing, networks, sign-in and approval behaviour there on November 3, 2026. We also searched the official MCP Registry for each server. We ranked for people who connect an AI app to their social accounts: whether OAuth sign-in works in Claude and ChatGPT on the web, whether a person can approve a post before it goes out, how many networks it reaches, and the price, including whether the free plan includes the server.
Buffer ranks first because its server works on the free plan, signs in with OAuth and keeps posts as drafts or in the queue by default, across 13 networks. PostEverywhere is second for real approval tools at a low price. Postiz is third for the widest network list and an open-source code base you can host. Metricool is fourth: its server works on the free plan and reads analytics, but LinkedIn and X need a paid plan.
Refract sits fifth. Its server makes approval a setting of the connection and the workspace rather than something the AI is asked to remember, and it is in the official MCP Registry, but it posts to fewer networks than Buffer, PostEverywhere and Postiz and has no free plan. Typefully is sixth for text networks on a free plan. Zernio and Upload-Post close the list as developer APIs whose servers can publish without a review step.
We left several official servers out of the ranking and kept them in the table above. Ayrshare's server takes an API key only, with no OAuth sign-in. Publer includes its server on Business and Enterprise only. Superbridger posts to 6 networks and prices in euros. Keryo's docs list only LinkedIn and X as live today. PostJay is in beta with future pricing. UploadFlow covers 5 networks, and Blotato keeps its MCP server out of its trial.

Questions and answers.

What is a social media MCP server?

It is a server a social media tool runs so an AI app such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can use the tool: list your accounts, write drafts, schedule posts and read analytics. You add its URL to your AI app and sign in, usually with OAuth.

Can an AI post to my accounts without my approval?

It depends on the server. Refract can require approval for every post from an AI tool, and PostEverywhere has request-and-approve tools. Buffer, Postiz and Zernio can save drafts but can also publish at once, and Upload-Post publishes directly. Claude and ChatGPT may also ask you before they use a tool.

Is there a free social media MCP server?

Yes. Buffer, Metricool, Typefully and Upload-Post include their servers on free plans, Zernio is free for 2 accounts, and Postiz is free if you host it yourself. Free plans limit channels, posts or uploads.

Which social media MCP servers are in the official MCP Registry?

On November 3, 2026 we found PostEverywhere, Refract, Typefully, Zernio, Upload-Post, Superbridger, Keryo and Blotato there. We didn't find Buffer, Postiz, Metricool, Publer, Ayrshare, PostJay or UploadFlow, though their own docs describe official servers.

Can I use a social media MCP server with ChatGPT?

Yes, if the server signs in with OAuth or is listed in ChatGPT. OpenAI's help page says adding a custom MCP server with write actions needs ChatGPT Business or Enterprise/Edu on the web; Pro gets read and fetch only.

Do I need an API key?

Not for most of these. Claude and ChatGPT usually sign in with OAuth, and you approve access in the tool. API keys are for clients without a sign-in flow, such as scripts or some coding tools; Ayrshare's server accepts an API key only, and Refract's uses OAuth only.
