Schedule social posts from Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor

Refract is a remote MCP server at https://mcp.refract.social. Connect it to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code to draft and schedule posts to 10 networks, and decide whether posts wait for your approval before anything goes out.

What your AI can do.

The tools Refract's MCP server offers, as your AI app sees them. An app only gets the ones you allow.

  • list-workspaces

Lists the Refract workspaces this connection can use, with each one's time zone and permissions.

  • list-accounts

Lists the social accounts connected in a workspace.

  • list-posts

Lists a workspace's posts, newest first, with their status and scheduled time.

  • get-post

Gets one post with its text, accounts and their status, media, scheduled time and history.

  • create-draft

Creates a draft post in a workspace with its text, accounts and optional media.

  • upload-media

Adds an image or video to a workspace's media library from a public link.

  • send-for-approval

Sends a draft to the team for approval, to go out at a time you pick or at the workspace's next free posting time.

  • schedule-post

Schedules a draft to go out at a time you pick or at the workspace's next free posting time.

  • edit-published-post

Changes the text and settings of a published post on one of its accounts.

  • remove-published-post

Removes a published post from the network of one of its accounts.

You stay in charge.

  • You sign in, there is no key

Your AI app opens Refract in your browser and you sign in there, with OAuth and PKCE. There is no API key to paste or leak, and the app never sees your password.
  • You pick the workspaces and the level

When you connect, you choose which workspaces the app can reach and one of two levels: Draft and send for approval (works like a Contributor) or Schedule and publish (works like an Editor). It never gets more than your own role, and tools it isn't allowed aren't offered to it at all.
  • Approvals work like a teammate's

At Draft and send for approval, everything the app writes waits for someone on your team to approve it. At Schedule and publish, posts go out as scheduled unless the workspace asks for approval from AI agents and tokens (Business plans and up); then they wait too.
  • What it can't do

It can't change settings, billing, your team or your connected accounts, and it can't reach workspaces you didn't pick. The tool that removes a post that already went out tells your AI to ask you first.
  • Disconnect any time

Admins see every connected app in Settings › API and agents and can remove it at once; Claude has its own Disconnect. Posts it already wrote stay where they are.

Things to ask.

Once Refract is connected, ask in plain words. A few to start with:

  • Draft a launch post for Bluesky, Mastodon and Telegram from this changelog and queue it for Tuesday at 9:00.

  • What's scheduled next week in the Kolo Coffee workspace, and what is still waiting for approval?

  • Add the photo at https://kolo.coffee/guji.jpg to a post for our Pinterest and Bluesky accounts and schedule it for the next free time.

  • Write a shorter version of this announcement for Mastodon, keep the long one for Tumblr, and send both for approval for Friday afternoon.

  • Which of my posts failed this month, and why?

Questions and answers.

Which plans include the MCP server?

Every plan: Creator, Business, Agency and Agency Plus, from $10 a month. It's on the 14-day free trial too, along with the API and webhooks.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes, on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, in ChatGPT on the web: an admin or owner adds Refract under Plugins › Add custom MCP server, with https://mcp.refract.social and OAuth. ChatGPT Pro can connect it with read access only, so it can look at your workspaces and posts but not draft or schedule. OpenAI sets which plans can add their own MCP servers; see its help article.

What can the AI see in my Refract account?

Only the workspaces you pick when you connect: their connected accounts (name, handle and whether they need reconnecting) and their posts. It can't see billing, your team or other workspaces. Refract only receives what your AI app sends in each tool call, not the rest of your conversation.

Will it publish without asking me?

Only if you let it. Connect it at Draft and send for approval and everything waits for approval. At Schedule and publish, it schedules like an Editor, unless the workspace asks for approval from AI agents and tokens.

Are there rate limits?

Yes: 120 requests a minute per person, across all your AI apps. The API has its own limits; see Rate limits.

Write it once, native everywhere.

Start a free trial, connect your accounts, then let your AI app draft and schedule with you.
